Government Urged to Review Maths Curriculum

Monday, May 27, 2024

The government should urgently review primary and secondary maths curriculum according to the Education Select Committee’s latest report on delivering effective financial education.

The report found that financial education is insufficient and should be expanded to adequately prepare children for the financial world in which they increasingly participate.

Further recommendations include making financial education compulsory in schools and that the DfE curates a selection of high-quality financial education teaching materials. The committee also suggests schools and trusts should consider having a financial education lead to co-ordinate financial education across the school curriculum.
